Down on the Farm – April 11th

He’s back, and he’s incredible.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr made his season AAA debut for the Bisons in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and he homered, doubled, and drove in 4 as Buffalo mounted a furious 7-run comeback, but fell 9-8 in 10 innings.  Anthony Alford hit a three-run shot, and Cavan Biggio had a pair of hits.  It was a bullpen night for Buffalo, as starter Shawn Morimando was rocked for 7 ER before exiting the game in the 3rd.

In Hartford, New Hampshire banged out a season-high 14 hits, but fell to the Yard Goats 10-5.  Kevin Smith, Nash Knight, and Forrest Wall each had three hits, with Smith, who hit a monster HR in the 1st, finishing a triple shy of the cycle.  Starter Hector Perez struggled for the second straight outing, allowing 8 earned runs over 3 innings.

In Fort Myers, Dunedin broke a 21-inning scoreless drought with a 5-0 win over the Miracle.  Ryan Noda led the way offensively for the D-Jays, going 2-4 and knocking out his first Florida State League HR.  Nick Allgeyer tossed 5 shutout innings, allowing only a pair of hits and striking out 5.  A trio of relievers preserved the whitewash for Dunedin.

In Lansing, the Lugnuts completed an 0-4 night for the farm system, losing a 7-3 matinee to West Michigan, who swept the three game series.  Lansing SS Otto Lopez continues to be a bright light, going 2-4 and swiping his league-leading 5th base of the year.  Top prospect Jordan Groshans, who was removed from Wednesday’s game, and sat out yesterday’s contest.
