C’s Announce Opening Day Roster

The Vancouver Canadians are holding a media day today as they officially announce the roster for the return of baseball to the Lower Mainland for the first time since 2019.

The biggest surprise is the return of Adam Kloffenstein, who will spend a third season in Vancouver (the first of which was with the short-season version of the C’s). Kloff pitched better than his numbers indicated last year, but obviously the organization doesn’t feel he’s ready for the big jump to AA just yet.

Pitching will be a strength of this team, with a rotation likely consisting of Robberse, Kloffenstein, 2021 4th rounder Chad Dallas, Naswell Paulino, and Trent Palmer, author of two no-hitters with Dunedin in 2021.

Offence may be a challenge for the C’s, as the biggest bat in the lineup likely will belong to INF Miguel Hiraldo. SS Leo Jimenez, who was added to the 40 man roster last fall, will be one to watch.

And speaking of watching, insomniacs will be able to catch plenty of C’s games this year. Vancouver will join Everett and Eugene in streaming their home games on MiLB.tv. In addition for Canadian viewers, Sportsnet will revive their C’s coverage with a handful of games. Dates and times have yet to be announced.
